Coaching FAQs

What’s coaching?

The International Coach Federation defines coaching in the following way:
“Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives.
Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives.
Coaches are trained to listen, to observe, and to customize their approach to individual clients needs.
They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful.
The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.”

The coach’s role in the coaching relationship is to:

  • Support the client to explore and discover the answers that will work for them;
  • Help the client clarify their values, goals, and visions;
  • Co-create a plan of action in whichever area the client is looking to move forward
  • Support the client in making life-changing decisions
  • Challenge the client to expand their view beyond perceived limitations

How does Coaching differ from other services such as counseling and therapy?

The most basic difference between coaching and other services is that coaching focuses on creating forward movement; while many times counseling & therapy works with feelings and experiences related to past events, coaching focuses on goal setting and encourages the client to move forward. Coaching is action oriented.

How many sessions will you need?

The number of sessions will vary depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

You may be looking to gain clarity on a very specific area or particular issue taking place in your life which perhaps may happens within one session.

More often than not, Coach Debora’s clients are looking to create big changes in their lives, in which case it usually takes several sessions to fully become clear, come up with a plan of action, get through blockages and really make it happen.

Typically Coach Debora works with clients for 6 sessions as a start and the majority of her clients sign up for anywhere between 12-30 sessions total. She also offers group coaching as a more affordable solution.
